24th Grand Reunion of the Lung Kong Association of America to Be Held in Los Angeles

The 24th Grand Reunion of the Lung Kong Association of
America will be held on September 13, 2025, in the heart of Los Angeles
Chinatown, hosted by the Lung Kong Association of Los Angeles. The day will
begin with a grand opening ceremony at 10:00 AM, followed by a traditional
street parade at 1:30 PM. The Lung Kong Association’s renowned Ming Yee Hin
Lion Dance Troupe will perform a dramatic reenactment of the classic “Meeting
at the Ancient City” from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, bringing
history and heroism to life.
🗣 Chairman William
Cheung: Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future
“Time flies like an arrow. Three years ago, I joined over a dozen
representatives from Los Angeles to attend the 23rd Grand Reunion in Portland,
Oregon. The memories remain vivid. We are deeply grateful to the organizers for
their thoughtful arrangements and for embodying the spirit of unity and
ancestral teachings. At the farewell banquet, Los Angeles was announced as the
next host city, and many generous donors pledged support on the spot. With
heartfelt gratitude, we accepted this important mission.”
Chairman Cheung also highlighted the transformation of Los
Angeles in recent years: “Thanks to city and county collaboration, our city has
undergone a remarkable renewal. Once quiet at night, downtown now thrives with
skyscrapers, entertainment venues, and sports arenas. With the upcoming FIFA
World Cup and the 2028 Olympics, Los Angeles is poised to shine on the world
stage. It’s truly a destination worth visiting.”

🗣 Mr. David Kwan: A Legacy of Reunions and Cultural Pride
“Hosting the 24th Grand Reunion in Los Angeles is not unprecedented. We
previously hosted in 1998 (15th Reunion), 1966 (7th Reunion), and as far back
as 1928—which is retrospectively recognized as the very first Grand Reunion of
the Lung Kong Association of America. To host four times is a rare honor, and
the members of Los Angeles should feel proud.”
Mr. Kwan offered a historical reflection: “Although the Lung
Kong Association was formally established in 1948, the 1928 gathering in Los
Angeles laid the foundation for the merger of the Lung Kong and Chin Yee
Associations. The name ‘Lung Kong Association of America’ was officially
adopted in New York in 1948, and by 1951 in San Francisco, we saw the title
‘Third Grand Reunion’ in use. Interestingly, the 1928 event is still regarded
as the first, acknowledging the early efforts that made today’s organization
possible.”
Looking ahead, he added: “If we consider 1928 as the origin,
then 2028 will mark the centennial. Will Los Angeles host again to commemorate
this milestone? Whether or not we pursue that honor, Los Angeles remains
unmatched—having hosted four times and attracted one of the highest numbers of
participating chapters, including 25 in 1966.”
🗣 Planning Committee
Director Ted Cheung: A Cultural Celebration Across Generations
“The 24th Grand Reunion in September 2025 is more than a gathering—it’s a
celebration of heritage and honor. Twenty-seven years ago, we hosted the 18th
Reunion with great enthusiasm. Today, that glory returns.”
🔹 Upholding Loyalty,
Righteousness, Benevolence, and Courage
At the heart of the Reunion lies the spirit of Chinese culture and ancestral
teachings. The Lung Kong values—loyalty, righteousness, benevolence, and
courage—remain timeless. The solemn ancestral rites express reverence and
remembrance, while the vibrant parade and lion dance reconnect overseas Chinese
with their cultural roots.
🔹 Strengthening Bonds
Across Generations
Each Reunion brings together Lung Kong members from across the Americas—young
and old—to share stories, exchange ideas, and explore future directions. While
youth participation can grow, the event remains a vital platform for cultural
transmission. Through rituals, performances, and banquets, younger generations
witness the richness of tradition and are inspired to carry it forward.
🔹 Unity and Dedication
in Preparation
The Planning Committee has worked with deep respect and passion to welcome
guests from near and far. Director Cheung expressed gratitude for the tireless
efforts of volunteers, the thoughtful planning by the women’s division, and the
generous support from chapters across the continent. “We’ve seen people give
their time, resources, and energy—this unity is the essence of Lung Kong
spirit.”
The Reunion is not just a gathering—it’s a spiritual celebration. Here, we honor our ancestors, deepen our connections, and empower the next generation to appreciate the value of culture. The Lung Kong spirit carries our commitment to society, our reverence for tradition, and our hope for peace. With heartfelt thanks to all leaders and guests, may the bonds of Lung Kong endure, and may the light of loyalty, righteousness, benevolence, and courage continue to shine across the world.
